Dr. Holly Moriarty, who grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, graduated with honors in 1994 from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. Prior to enrolling in chiropractor school in 1999, she spent five years in the technology industry. Dr. Moriarty graduated cum laude from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. She is in an elite group of practitioners who have earned status as a Diplomate of Sports Medicine (DACBSP) and holds Certification in Kinesiology Therapeutic Taping, and Graston Technique.
Dr. Moriarty is also certified in ART (Active Release Techniques), a state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow have all been treated successfully using this technique. ART is often used to treat top athletes around the country.
As an avid golfer, equestrian, and softball player, Dr. Moriarty has a special interest in sports medicine and understands the need for patients to heal quickly without compromising the integrity of their bodies. This specialty in sports has lead her to successfully treat many of the professional athletes in our area. Dr. Moriarty was selected as a 2010 Top Chiropractic Expert in Sports Medicine by Washingtonian Magazine and as a 2013 Top Chiropractor by Northern Virginia Magazine. She also served as a sports chiropractic volunteer at the U.S. Olympic training facility in Colorado Springs, CO. Dr. Moriarty is on the Affiliate Faculty of George Mason University.
Dr. Moriarty has lectured in a variety of venues and can speak on topics that include injury prevention, muscle strengthening, modern rehabilitation techniques for athletes, low-back pain, and nutrition.
Dr. Martin C. Donnelly (No relation to Dr. Melinda Donnelly) has worked with athletes of all types and abilities, from endurance athletes and military service members to weekend warriors. His practice uses a variety of techniques to help clients achieve their personal health, fitness, and mobility goals. He aims to teach his clients to independently care for themselves and manage whatever obstacles may be affecting their performance and comfort.
Education
Dr. Donnelly received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University, Baltimore, Maryland, and his doctorate from the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic, Bridgeport, Connecticut. He has held teaching, clinical, or supervisory roles for the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut; George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia; D’Youville University, Buffalo, New York; Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida Campus, Port Orange, Florida; and LIFE University, Marietta, Georgia.
Certifications
As a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (CCEP) and Graston-certified provider, Dr. Donnelly draws from a variety of chiropractic best practices, including Dry Needling, FAKTR-PM (Functional And Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation, Provocation and Motion) concept, Diversified Chiropractic Technique, Cox flexion-distraction and Mckenzie principles. He is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Professional (CKTP). He practices many soft tissue techniques, including myofascial release with an active component, Post Isometric relaxation (PIR), Contract Relax Agonist Contract (CRAC), and ballistic stretching, which are forms of proprioceptive neuromuscular skeletal facilitation (PNF) techniques. Dr. Donnelly was an early adopter of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) certification for back pain and supports the Choosing Wisely campaign of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) foundation.
Community engagement
Dr. Donnelly has been a preferred provider for the Washington Redskins and Washington Wizards cheerleaders, an emergency medical technician (EMT), and a Team in Training volunteer with homeless outreach organization Back on My Feet and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. He has been a guest speaker for the Medical Society of Northern Virginia, the DC Pretrial Association, the Department of Homeland Security, the IRS, Boeing, and General Dynamics.
Personal
Dr. Donnelly has long-appreciated the value of exercise and fitness. In high school, he danced classical ballet at a pre-professional level and was a varsity gymnast. Now, he keeps fit by hiking and Orange Theory Fitness. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Dr. Donnelly currently resides in NoVA with his wife, two kids, and their dog.
Dr. Melinda Donnelly grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Graduating from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Dr. Donnelly worked in the early childhood education field promoting parental involvement in the nurturing of the child development. After leading a successful center for child development, Dr. Donnelly decided to take a different career path. Seeing the benefits of chiropractic care, she enrolled in Life University, Atlanta Georgia and obtained her Doctorate of Chiropractic.
Dr. Donnelly has 18 years of experience providing chiropractic care to patients of all ages. From age 5 days to 91 years she an advocate for wellness care to achieve an active healthy lifestyle. Dr. Donnelly knows the importance of patient comfortability and satisfaction and is well versed in Full Spine Diversified, Thompson Drop, Activator Analysis, and Dry Needling to make each visit something to look forward to.
During her free time, Dr. Donnelly enjoys spending time with her husband, Darin, of 23 years. One of their favorite activities is searching for the best local farm markets, restaurants and arts and crafts in the area.
Paul J. Moriarty serves as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Haymarket Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, Virginia Sport Chiropractic of Warrenton, Haymarket Physical Therapy and Haymarket Properties, located in Gainesville and Warrenton, VA. Mr. Moriarty has over 20 years experience in sales and marketing and has been involved in several “start up” companies. Mr. Moriarty has an under graduate degree from the University of Rhode Island in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Management and Business.
